MASSSTATS - This free web site provides a service which allows the user to create maps from a single community to the whole State.  You then pick from various categories such as Education, Demographics, Health, Crime, etc, and finally select from drop down menus that provide a town to town comparison.  They make use of publicly available data such as the US census, Dept. of Revenue, Dept of Education etc.

Research and Studies of Interest:

School Matters by Standard and Poor's  - Standard & Poor's recently launched their "School Matters" website, which they describe as - "a public source for information and analysis about our nation's public schools. SchoolMatters provides rich information and powerful search and comparison tools to help uncover the stories behind the numbers, and further the discussion about how to improve student performance...Perhaps even more significantly, this project provides easy access to data and analyses to help guide informed decisions on behalf of our school systems and children." The Prop 2 1/2 'Diet' - Recently published in the Hamilton-Wenham Chronicle.  Hamilton resident Rick Sprenkle takes an in depth look at Proposition 2 1/2.  How does a diet of 2.5% increases compare to: Social Security Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA); The Consumer Price Index; Professional and Business Salary Growth.  View on the web at the H-W Chronicle View and download the full study with charts (PDF document)*

Private High School Tuition for 2004/2005 school year.  A school committee candidate commented recently that many people in our community are concerned that we are spending so much on our schools, and have asked "are we trying to create a private school environment, with costs to match?"  We did some research, and the results are provided in a graph which shows tuition costs at 13 private high schools in the area.
